R410A Refrigerant FAQs
Find answers to common questions about our R410A Refrigerant collection.
1 My outdoor unit says R410A. Can I order this for a recharge?
R410A is for equipment designed and labeled for R410A. Check the nameplate and service manual and have the technician confirm the system's condition and charge requirement. Refrigerant loss usually means a leak should be investigated before recharging.
2 Can I replace R22 with R410A in my old air conditioner?
No. R410A runs at substantially different pressures and is not a drop-in R22 replacement. Do not add it to an R22 system; consult a qualified technician about an approved retrofit or equipment replacement.
3 Do you have a small R410A cylinder instead of a 25 lb tank?
Freonwell lists R410A options including 1.5 lb, 5 lb, 10 lb and 25 lb. Check each live listing for stock, price and net fill. A smaller cylinder may reduce leftovers, while a larger one may offer better cost per pound.
4 Does the 25 lb R410A listing contain 25 lb of gas?
Yes, the 25 lb designation refers to net refrigerant contents in that listing, not the total package weight. The empty cylinder and shipping materials add weight. Verify the product label and specifications upon receipt.
5 Will the cylinder fit my existing charging hoses?
Confirm the cylinder-valve connection and any required adapter before buying. R410A service hoses and manifold gauges must also have suitable pressure ratings; an older R22-only gauge set may not be appropriate.
6 Can I top off an R410A system with R32 or R454B?
No. R32 and R454B are different refrigerants and R454B has A2L handling requirements. Never mix them into an R410A system or assume that a newer refrigerant is a compatible substitute.
7 How much is shipping for two R410A cylinders?
The site currently lists $30 standard shipping per cylinder, normally $60 for two. Orders generally ship from the U.S. warehouse within 24 business hours; check the product ZIP estimator and final checkout total.
8 What if my installer tells me I ordered the wrong R410A size?
Contact support immediately before dispatch to ask about changing the order. Once shipped, return eligibility requires a request within 30 days, an unused unopened cylinder and prior approval for regulated-goods transport.
